61 illegal emigrants were detained at Kulata railway station during the past year

The illegal passengers were heading for countries in Western Europe. They were  hiding in international freight trains

In the course of a routine inspection at Kulata railway station, border police officers detained 20 men and one woman, who had the intention of entering in our country. For this purpose, they used an empty freight train. They explained to the officers that they did not have identity documents and that they came from different states – Algiers, Somalia and Palestine. The freight train departed from Greece, passed through Bulgaria and Serbia, with destination Croatia. The border police informed the Greek authorities of the case.

 Officers of the Border Police Station in Petrich were making inspection of an international freight train entering Bulgaria from Greece, traveling to Serbia and Croatia. In one of the carriages, the border police found a man without identity papers. According to the information provided by the man, he was aged 34 and came from Afghanistan. He confessed that his final destination was Austria. He was detained in BCCP Petrich and the regional prosecutor’s office was informed accordingly.
In 2011, the border police detained 61 persons at Kulata railway station, hiding in international freight trains. The illegal passengers were heading for countries in Western Europe.
