An Annual Activity Report of the Bulgarian Council for coordination in the fight against infringements affecting the financial interests of the EU for 2011 was adopted
A regular meeting of the Bulgarian Council for coordination in the fight against infringements affecting the financial interests of the EU was conducted
The Chairman of the Council – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of interior Mr. Tsvetan Tsvetanov opened the meeting. It was attended by the Council’s Members - Deputy-Ministers and Directors of the Managing Authorities, Certificating and Auditing bodies, Law Enforcement Authorities, the Director of AFCOS Directorate - MoI and representatives from the Prosecutor’s office of the Republic of Bulgaria. In the course of the session the Annual Activity Report of the Council for coordination in the fight against infringements affecting the financial interests of the EU for 2011 was discussed and adopted. The Chairman of the Council presented the Report for execution the Action plan for 2011 in accordance with the National Strategy for prevention and fight against irregularities and fraud affecting the financial interests of EU 2011-2013. There are 128 actions present in the report, of which 122 have been fully completed, 4 – partially completed and only 2 not yet implemented. The report has been accepted by the Council’s Members present on the meeting. An Action plan for 2012 in accordance with the National Strategy for prevention and fight against irregularities and fraud affecting the financial interests of EU 2011-2013 was adopted after discussions. One of the main accents of the document is the facilitation of joint operation by all the institutions, involved in the Council’s activities. Another priority in the 2012 plan is increasing the effectiveness of AFCOS Directorate, strengthening cooperation between the competent authorities in order to successfully prevent and fight fraud and equalization the best practices in the procedure during administering irregularities, concerning the financial interests of the EU. The Director of AFCOS Directorate Sonya Klisarska presented information on the execution of the decision, taken on the previous meeting. Furthermore, additional information was provided on the meeting in regards to Projects on the Regulations of the European Parliament and the Council, especially the Hercule III programme to promote activities in the field of the protection of the European Union's financial interests In conclusion, the Deputy Minister of Interior Mr. Veselin Vuchkov informed the the Council’s Members that the documents adopted on this meeting today accounting for the Council’s activities will be presented and adopted at Council
