The Bulgarian special services got a positive estimation for their work against drug trafficking and proliferation

This estimation was expressed during the International Drug Enforcement Conference  by the U.S. Assistant Deputy Secretary of State  Mr. Brian Nichols

The International Drug Enforcement Conference is held in Bali, Indonesia under the motto: “Enhancing the spirit of international partnership to achieve the greatest success on fighting drug-crimes”.
The invitation to Minister Tsvetan Tsvetanov to participate in the 29th International Drug Enforcement Conference was initiated by the Director of DEA Michele Leonhart.
She stated to the delegates to the international forum that opening of a DEA office in Sofia was a manifestation of the excellent cooperation with the Bulgarian services. It was a natural continuation of the achieved high level of cooperation and mutual success in drugs related crime. The Department has expressed unusually high opinion of the Bulgarian Ministry of Interior and its efforts to oppose organized crime and corruption - activities which should be performed systematically and which should be maintained in the future.
During the first conference day, Minister of Interior Tsvetan Tsvetanov and Senior Inspector Stanimir Florov had a meeting with Brian Nichols -  the U.S. Assistant Deputy Secretary of State  Mr. Brian Nichols on the issues related to drug trafficking and cross-border crime at the U.S. State Department.
